The Peluseriki family of Isale Osi, one of the oldest and well-rooted compounds in Ibadan, has called public attention to a growing crisis surrounding the Mogajiship of the family and alleged illegal sale of ancestral land.

The family made their position known during a press conference held in Ibadan, led by Alhaji Waheed Oyetunde, the Baale of Peluseriki, where they expressed deep concern over what they described as attempts to distort their lineage and usurp their traditional leadership structure.

Family Rejects Installation of Ramoni Olatunde as Mogaji

Speaking at the press briefing, the family condemned the purported installation of Mr. Ramoni Olatunde as Mogaji of the Peluseriki compound, allegedly facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Alawode, stressing that neither man belongs to the Peluseriki lineage.

They described the act as illegal, unacceptable, and a direct affront to the long-established structure of the Peluseriki compound.

According to the family, the Peluseriki compound consists of five legitimate branches, namely:

1. Famuagun

2. Layanu

3. Olusidi

4. Fagbolu

5. Oni-Otogunbo

These families, they emphasized, remain united in safeguarding their inheritance, traditions, and leadership hierarchy.

“Our Legitimate Mogaji Remains Chief Musiliu Yekini Olaoye”

The family reaffirmed that the rightful Mogaji of Peluseriki is Chief Musiliu Yekini Olaoye, who was installed on 12th February 2023 by the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, with the full endorsement of all Peluseriki families.

They insisted that this installation was legitimate, valid, and conducted in accordance with Ibadan’s recognized traditional protocols.

Family Alleges Unauthorized Sale of Ancestral Land

During the press briefing, the Peluseriki family also accused Mr. Ramoni Olatunde and Mr. Emmanuel Alawode of engaging in the illegal sale of family land without the knowledge or consent of the rightful lineage heads.

They claimed that portions of the land—passed down through generations—had been sold without any traditional backing, proper documentation, or family approval, describing the alleged actions as injurious to their heritage.

Family Calls for Official Intervention

The Peluseriki family appealed to:

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland,

the Ibadan Traditional Council, and

the Oyo State Government,

to urgently intervene and restore order.

They requested the immediate cessation of all unauthorized activities and full recognition of Mogaji Chief Musiliu Yekini Olaoye as the true and legitimate Mogaji of the Peluseriki compound.

“We Want Peace, Not Crisis” — Peluseriki Family

Concluding the press briefing, the family stressed that their aim is not to incite conflict but to protect their lineage, preserve their traditions, and prevent further unlawful actions affecting their ancestral property.

They expressed confidence that the prompt intervention of the Olubadan and relevant authorities would put an end to the confusion and safeguard the rights and assets of the Peluseriki family.
